About Mims

After graduating from high school, Mims would begin attending Nassau Community College. He was enrolled there for about two months. Mims decided that it would be best that he drop out in order to start a successful rap career. It was around this time that he began spending time in Harlem, and came in frequent contact with Cam'ron. It was here that Mims was discovered by Push Plan Records. In 2001, he was featured on a compilation called Private Party Collectors Edition Vol. 2, by Toronto's Baby Blue Soundcrew. His hit on the album was his verse on "Love Em' All", alongside Choclair. The song made him a Canadian superstar, but would go unreleased in the United States of America. Soon after the Canadian success, he would leave Push Plan, because he felt they had no desire to put his music out. He would get his first chance at fame when he met Blackout of Blackout Movement at his friend's wedding. In 2003, he would get noticed by Latino Hip Hop label Urban Box Office Records. Around this same time he teamed up with Digiwaxx and released the Blackout-produced track "I Did You Wrong", where he talks about past relationships. The song was a big hit in New York City, the popularity of this song would not get him a record deal, but it landed him a job as an opening act and hype man for Method Man on his tour.
